BIG FILE WARNING

More life draaawiiiing. Again, pieces dating from the beginning of 2009 to the beginning of this year. The piece in the upper left corner is a self-portrait. I really don't walk around looking that pained, but I DO mash my eyebrows in any old direction and ALL the time. haha.

Oh, and the legs are mine too. Hello other impossible pose and uncomfortable drawing pad juggling. haha. Blarg

Materials: the hunched over gesture drawing was done in black sharpie, the legs were done in HB-6B pencils, and everything else was done in vine charcoal.

Just out of interest, what sort of reference did you use for that self-portrait? Because if I was to do a self-portrait of that level, I would HAVE to use a photo for reference... :I

I love the self portrait. I mean, the structure, form and depth are really well depicted. I honestly do love it. And, I'm just curious... the girl reclining in the far right... is it just me, or did she look like Megan Fox? That's actually a legitimate, serious question.

you make me feel so inferior. also, idk how you can stand vine charcoal. I just look at it and I cringe. I prefer the straight thin sticks when i have to use it.

hahaha. Yay whoosh and volumes! I live for some whoosh and volumes. And thank you so much. That leg drawing took HOURS and it was so uncomfortable to try to balance my drawing board on the arm of my computer chair. lol. But I still also love how that came out. :D

hahaha. Oh thank you! lol.

Oh, and yeah I think I mentioned at some point to you that I'd taken a couple of life drawing classes at a community college. Some of these drawings are from one of those classes, but some of these drawings are from uninstructed life-drawing sessions that I found in my community, where you pay $15 and get to draw the professional model for like 3 or 4 hours however you'd like. The latter is what I've been doing lately just to keep up skills. :D

Community college ? What is it ? (sorry French here XD. Those classes are the best way to progress. The hardest thing it not to mess why the proportions XD
I have to wait until September to have such classes ! The nudes I did (well not really people were wearing pants though not to chock the 16 to 18 kids...), I didn't learn a real drawing technique, it was just in order to learn how to see so...

Omgosh, that's right, it would probably called something else there if it's there are all. Community college here is like... a stepping stone to a full-time university if people don't want to/can't go straight to university after what we call high school. The classes are therefore more open to the public to take, and you can enroll for certain courses instead of enrolling for full-time schooling. It's like... more accessible higher education. Because of that, I was able to get in to take life drawing classes with the community college's art department without having to be a full student there. :D

And DUDE, it's great that these kind of classes are on the horizon for you! :D And really, the fact that what you DID take helped you learn how to see better is half the process. I was just telling Lindsey the other day that knowing how to SEE what you're drawing is by far one of the most important parts. :D

Sorry for the delay !

Oh I understand nown but we don't have that here. There's leisure centers, but that's mostly for the kids. Here, there's only one way to access to universities and you can't choose to be a half-time student and do the lessons you like. It's a great concept ! It allows you to be still connected to that creative atmosphere !

I can't be more agree with you about how important is to know how to see and perceive things. It's like a whole new level of the world was open to you, that's soooo fascinating ! Still I can't release that I going to be in a freaking animation school that rocks my socks so hard ! I heard that you too have been received to an art school ? How are you feeling about it ? As excited as I am ?

Ugh, yes, I had a life drawing teacher who acted for a good while like it was something I needed to rid myself of, otherwise I wouldn't be flexible enough in the eyes of employers. However, he was a fine artist and it became a matter of him finally getting it through his skull that I wasn't. Guh. But yeah, I'm definitely NOT trying to get it out of me anymore, because I LIKE it. *stamps foot* hahaha

And I'm glad you approve of it as WELL! SO THERE, teacher. lol
